According to Hetherington 2002, couples in stepfamilies face 3 times more stress then the traditional family couple. Stepfamily formity is becoming more common just like cohabitation. In 2005 alone, 55 million couples were cohabitating compared to the 1960s with just 500,000 couples, reflected in the 2005 Census.
In 1995, the Bureau of Statistics shared that 46% of all marriages are remarriages, and 65% involve children. So in order for a remarriage, we encourage remarriage education. Which is completely different from a first time marriage education.
